Your Bridal Preview Appointment.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and you want to look and feel your absolute best. One essential step in achieving your dream bridal look is the hair and makeup trial or bridal preview. This pre-wedding appointment allows you to collaborate with myself to perfect your desired look, ensuring you radiate confidence and beauty on your special day. Here are some valuable information, tips and tricks to help you make the most of your bridal makeup trial

Where do trials take place?

I hold all my trials at my cosy home studio just outside Kinross. There is room for around 3 people so feel free to bring someone along. A lot of my brides will come with their mum or a bridesmaid.

How long do trials take?

I schedule 2 hours for makeup or hair trials and 3 hours for hair and makeup trials. This allows plenty of time to get to know you and hear all about your Wedding and your style as well as go over important details such as ceremony times. It also means there is plenty of time to tweak any details.

How should I prepare for my trial?

  1. Style and Inspirations: Think about what style you would like your hair or makeup (boho, romantic, modern, and sleek). Create a folder on your phone or Instagram and start saving any images that you like in there. Think about things that you don’t like or want as well as that can be just as useful.

  2. Complete the questionnaire: Before your trial, you should complete the questionnaire form that will be sent out along with your booking confirmation email. This form allows you to note down information about your dress, colours, style, and lots of other information that will help me get a feel for your wedding and your hair and makeup style in general.

  3. Skincare: Get a good solid skincare regime in place and be consistent with it. If you need any help with product choice or regimes then please get in touch. Good skincare ensures good makeup!

  4. Treatments: If you are thinking of getting any Wedding Day treatments for example Brows, Lash extensions or lifts, spray tans, then make sure you also have these done ahead of your trial as these can make a big difference to your overall look. It also allows you to trial them beforehand too.

  5. Hair Extensions: For styles such as Hollywood waves I strongly advise purchasing clip-in hair extensions as they make sure the style holds. When deciding on your Wedding Hair style think about your hair and thickness as a lot of styles are only achievable with extensions. I recommend Milk and Blush or Cliphair. If you have or purchase extensions please make sure they can be heat styled with hot tools. You should bring your extensions to your hair trial.

  6. Hair prep: Wash your hair the evening before your trial and ensure you blow dry it smooth. No braids or topknots! If you have naturally curly hair then follow your usual hair regime, unless you wish for the curls to be straightened. For some styles and textures, I may suggest you add on a prep blow dry for the day of but this will be advised at the trial.

The day of your trial appointment:

  1. Double-cleanse your face and make sure it is makeup-free.

  2. Wear a light top similar to your wedding dress colour so you can get an idea of the whole look.

  3. Bring along any accessories you may have such as a veil, clasps, etc. However, it doesn’t matter if you haven’t decided about these yet as once you have an idea of your hairstyle you can purchase something that will suit you.

  4. Write down any questions you may have or any details you think I should be aware of such as directions or anything about the prep location.

  5. If you have a favorite lipstick that you would like to wear then bring it along.

  6. Try to leave your makeup on for as long as possible so you get a good idea of the longevity and if any tweaks need to be made to the coverage or if you would like any changes for your Wedding Day.
